Colt 1851 Navy, Third Model

.36 caliber. 7.5" octagonal barrel length. SN: 62291. Single-action percussion revolver with fixed 6-shot cylinder, 3-screw frame, small trigger guard, and fixed v-notch and blade front sight. Blued metal finish, brass trigger guard and grip straps, with plain one-piece walnut grips. Markings include standard one-line New York City address to top of barrel, and other common manufacturer marks to trigger guard and frame. Cylinder features a faint engraving of the Texas-Mexico Naval battle scene. Serial number on arbor matches gun, serial number on wedge does not. 

Condition:

Fair. Bore is dark and rifling has heavy residue. Most of blued finish has worn away There is pitting, scratches, buff marks overall, and strike marks to wedge. Also has several spots of active oxidation to loading lever and brass trigger guard. Wood grips have scratches and some bites overall, with strike marks to butt of grips. Wedge screw appears to be too small and does not thread. Item is also missing mainspring components necessary for firing, making hammer limp and unable to rebound when trigger is pulled.
