Collection of 15 Sixth and Ninth Plate Daguerreotypes of Attractive Young Women

Lot of fifteen sixth and ninth plate daguerreotypes of young women, the majority of which are housed in either full or half pressed paper cases. Several subjects display remarkable clothing or accessories, including a girl in a fringed capelet, a young woman in a short-sleeved dress and fingerless gloves with a fan in her lap, and an elegant woman with gold-tinted jewelry, clad in a full-sleeved gown with a dramatic lace overlay, housed in a book-style velvet half case. Lot features sixth plate portraits of a woman identified as "Cathline Cropsie," as well as a seemingly troubled sitter who poses with a handkerchief in her lap and her head in her right hand. Also with an early portrait housed in a case marked for Mathew Brady ("M. B. Brady"), along with a ninth plate portrait of a woman in a lace-trimmed bonnet credited to Holmes, New York, NY.

Conditions varies. Many cases with separation at spines.
