Civil War Quarter Plate Ambrotype of Civilian Posed with Military Kepi, Tentatively Identified

Quarter plate ambrotype of a gentleman sporting a mustache and mutton chops, seated in a studio setting holding a cane and military kepi. With period inked note included with the image tentatively identifying the subject as "Charles Teeple" or "Peeple." HDS lists give "Charles Peeples"; however two of the five "Charles Peeples" can be eliminated based on their (teenage) age. Of the other three, there is not enough information at present to derive a solid identification. An interesting civilian portrait with military appeal nevertheless. Housed in full case reinforced at hinge.

Image a bit dark, some cracks/minor areas of loss to emulsion behind plate. Case with wear, reinforced at hinge.

Estimate: $75 - $300
