Civil War M1850 Foot Officer's Sword Belonging to Colonel Thomas H. Ruger, 3rd Wisconsin,

31.5" blade, marked at ricasso F. Hostler, Solingen. Etched panels with military motifs on both sides of blade. Brass knuckle bow and pommel. Shagreen and brass wire wrapped handle. Leather scabbard with brass bands and carrying rings. This was one of the swords General Thomas H. Ruger used during his military service.

Provenance:Descended directly in the family of General Thomas H. Ruger

Condition:Knuckle bow and pommel are untouched with a very nice brass patina. Shagreen handle has some very minute wear. Blade has some staining caused from light surface rust that could very easily be cleaned. Scabbard in excellent condition.
