Civil War Letter Endorsed by Four Generals

2pp, 8 x 10 in., Headquarters of the 42nd Reg't. NY Vols. near Warrenton, VA, 12 Nov. 1862. Secretarial letter signed by Lt. Col. G.W. Bomford, commanding the 42nd Vol. Infy. to Gen. Thomas Hillhouse, Adj. Gen'l. of New York recommending seven men for promotion. Verso is docketed and signed by Col. Norman Hall, Commanding 3rd Brig. (13 Nov.), then to Maj. Gen. O.O. Howard (1830-1909) who forwards the document (Nov. 14). Next it is approved and forwarded by Maj. Gen'l. Darius Couch (1822-1897) (15 Nov.), then to Bvt. Maj. Gen'l. Edwin Vose Sumner (1797-1863) (16 Nov.). It was finally approved by AAG Bvt. Brig. Gen'l. Thomas M. Vincent (1832-1909) and sent to the Governor of New York (25 Nov.).

Condition:Expected folds, water stain across top of 1/3 fold. Light toning of folds on verso.
