[CIVIL WAR] -- [LATE INDIAN WARS]. A group of 3 hard images, incl. quarter plate tintype of Union soldier with pistol.
Attractive, quarter plate tintype of Union soldier standing with one hand resting uncomfortably on his wide while the other hand is on the photographer's chair. The soldier wears a 9-button frockcoat belted with a 2-piece belt plate and holstered pistol tucked into the side. He also wears a pork pie hat. (Strong clarity and contrast, plate is skinny on sides but to no detriment, crazing to the plate.) Housed in thermoplastic hanging case with a corner chip. -- 4 1/4 x 6 in. hand-painted tintype bust portrait of a soldier, identified on paper affixed on verso and on separate tin fragment as "Ruckham." (Some light surface wear.) A fine folk art-painted portrait. -- 3 1/4 x 4 3/4 in. tintype of a young Indian Wars sergeant in dress uniform. He holds his rifle with gloved hands right next to his US belt plate. (Strong clarity and contrast, some light creasing to plate.)
