Matted and framed, 17 x 21 in. (unexamined outside frame). Standing portrait of Frank B. Schaffer with sword in hand. His plumed shako rests on the small table at right. Signed on mount below image, "Yours Truly / Frank B. Schaffer." With penciled notation on mount verso identifying Schaffer and describing his Civil War service record.
A resident of Philadelphia, Frank Schaffer enlisted on 9/19/1861 as a captain and was commissioned into Pennsylvania Battery A Light Artillery. Less than 6 months later, he resigned on 2/28/1862.
