[CIVIL WAR]. III Corps (Third Army Corps) badge identified to the 2nd New Hampshire Volunteers.

Unidentified pin back hanger with suspended gold minie ball attached to diamond-shaped badge representing the III Corps, approx. 2 x 4 in. (wear and abrasions visible on minie ball). Diamond inscribed "2nd N.H.V." 

The 2nd New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry served with the 3d Brig. 2d Div. 3d Corps. It was the longest serving regiment of the state of New Hampshire and participated in many notable engagements including First and Second Bull Run, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, and Cold Harbor. The 2nd NH wore their signature gray uniforms for the entire war refusing to switch to the Union blue.
