Civil War Era Musician's Sword

28" single edged spear point blade with full-length stopped central fuller and gilt brass hilt with cast faux-wire wrap grip and single knuckle bow. Obverse ricasso marked U.S./AHC/1863 with weak Ames marking on reverse ricasso. AHC inspection mark found on obverse knuckle bow of sword and obverse drag of scabbard. Brass mounted leather scabbard with frog hook on throat.

Condition:

Very good. Blade cleaned with some scattered oxidation particularly at the tip where it is more moderate and with some discoloration and frosting present as well. Markings on obverse clear, weak on reverse. Hilt with traces of gilt and a medium mustard patina. Scabbard very good, solid with complete stitching in reverse seam. Mounts with a medium mustard patina with upper mount loose. Leather showing some scuffing.
