Civil War-Era Compact Surgical and Amputation Kit by W&H Hutchinson

Wood case with brass fitting and green velvet lining, dimensions 9.25 x 2.75 x 1.75 in.  Appears complete with 11 pieces, including a locking metal handle with ebony grips which can be attached to three different blades or the bone saw, PLUS an original packet of needles with the label of W. & H. Hutchinson, Sheffield, whose name is also on several of the other tools.

Provenance:From the collection of Art Gerber, Indiana

Condition:

Set is mostly complete with one tool missing.  Blades have some deterioration and darkening on edges, but no immediately evident chips or other major damage.  Handles show some wear and minor wear.
