Civil War-Era CDV Album From a Prominent South Bend Family, featuring Schuyler Colfax and Union Soldiers

Album 5 x 6 x 2.5 in., leather with deeply embossed/carved boards, gilt front, back and spine, all edges gilt; two brass clasps with porcelain "beads" on them. Harding's Universal Photograph Album, Philadelphia: William W. Harding, 1861. 39 cdvs, 9 tintypes. Most of the tintypes are gem-sized, including the second photo in the book, identified as Francis A. Gee, 1st Sgt. Co. B, 32nd Wis. Vols, and the first photo is a cdv of Emma Gee. None of the other men are in uniform. Most pages are identified.

Rare Schuyler Colfax cdv with backmark of Jas. Bonney, South Bend, Ind., plus Notre Dame students, and prominent local families.
