[CIVIL WAR - EQUIPMENT]. Model 1858 "Bullseye" Pattern Oblate Spheroid Canteen with Patriotic Crocheted and Silk Cover.

Regulation pattern tin dipped iron canteen with a pewter spout and replacement stopper.  The issue cover has been replaced with one of off-white crocheted cotton with interwoven red, white and blue silk ribbons, forming a patriotic cockade motif on the obverse.  Complete with a leather shoulder sling.  An attractive example of mid-19th century patriotic folk art.
