BROCK, R.A., ed. Gen. Robert Edward Lee: Soldier, Citizen, and Christian Patriot. Atlanta, GA: H.C. Hudgins & Co., 1897. 8vo, grey cloth with gilt title, printed endpapers, 586pp. (front inner hinge split; surface soiling of boards; corners bumped).

Wood box, 3.75 x 2.25 x 1.25 in. with lithograph of General Lee on slightly domed top. Inside is paper label with "Use Clark's O.N.T. Spool Cotton...." and graphics presumably representing spool ends, two with dates of 1862 and 1863 and the logo "Honoris Causa" ("for the sake of honor"). On the long side in front: "Made of Wood / Which Grew Near Alloway Kirk / On the Banks of the Doon." Alloway, Ayrshire, Scotland was the birthplace of Robert Burns. Bottom with worn purple pad. (inner edge of box with short sides broken, some scratches on Clark's ad)
