Civil War CDVs of Union and Confederate Officers and Soldiers, Incl. Joseph W. Hoke, 93rd PA, WIA Wilderness

Lot of 27 CDVs, both from life and after illustrations, bearing portraits of prominent Civil War officers with both the Union and Confederacy. These men primarily appear in uniform, and the majority are identified by captions either below the image or on verso. Subjects include Robert E. Lee, Benjamin Butler, J.E.B. Stuart, Ambrose Burnside, William D. Porter, James Longstreet, Charles Henry Davis, Stonewall Jackson, P.G.T. Beauregard, Roger Hanson, Jesse Reno, Daniel McCallum, Joe Johnson, Braxton Bragg, A.P. Hill, Richard Ewell, Nathaniel P. Banks, John H. Morgan, and Quincy A. Gilmore. Also with a tintype CDV of a young man identified as Sergeant Joseph W. Hoke, Co. F, 93rd Pennsylvania Infantry. Hoke, originally of Lebanon County, PA, enlisted as a private on October 3, 1861. He was promoted twice, attaining the rank of sergeant on January 1, 1864. That May, Hoke was wounded at the Battle of the Wilderness but recovered from his injuries and was later mustered out on October 28, 1864.
