Civil War CDV Collection Featuring Union Officers, Plus, Lot of 9

Lot of 9, including an assortment of CDVs of Union officers and soldiers, many of whom are identified. Subjects appear both in uniform and civilian clothes and include Gilmore Medal recipient Captain Joseph Ackerman (ca 1835-1879) and Colonel Alexander Cummings McWhorter Pennington, Jr. (1838-1917). Also with a full-length standing portrait, approx. 1 x 2 in., of Sergeant George Eckendorff, Co. C, 191st Pennsylvania Infantry, mounted to a small piece of paper reading, "G. Eckendorff / Military Instructor / 1104 Sansom St. / Phila." During the Civil War, Eckendorff was wounded and taken prisoner at Weldon Railroad, VA. He died in captivity from his injuries at Salisbury, NC in 1864. Lot completed by a composite CDV showcasing "12 Views of the Great Armory of War," published by Anthony, New York, NY.
