Lot of 3, including: sixth plate ambrotype (housed in full case fully separated at hinge) and ninth plate tintype (housed in full case fully separated at hinge) of soldiers wearing unusual camp hats that appear to be a variation of camp/smoking hats, each complete with a dangling tassel. These hats were most commonly seen in photographs of early war New England volunteers and documented among early Illinois regiments as well. Accompanied by ninth plate ruby ambrotype of a young Union soldier wearing what looks to be a forage cap (housed in full case with weak hinge).
Sixth plate ambrotype with tarnish along perimeter where plate meets mat. Image is strong, clear.
Ninth plate tintype, tarnish along perimeter.
Ninth plate ruby ambrotype, a little dark, but details still visible.
