An exceptionally scarce manual filled with impossible to maintain admonitions such as maintaining the diet of soldiers with fresh meat, fruits and vegetables to keep them healthy; making sure they bathe daily, especially the feet when marching; supplying them with clothing appropriate to the season; making sure excretions are buried miles from camp; etc. Had Gross' advice been followed literally thousands of soldiers would have survived the war from preventable diseases.

Condition:Wear to edges of boards, previous owners' names front and back. Light toning, scattered foxing.
