CDV, vignette named in scrawling illegible period pencil beneath portrait and "St. Louis / June 6th, 1862" penciled on verso. N.p.: n.p., 1862. (Near excellent.) A modern notation tentatively identifies the young officer as 3rd Asst. Engineer Joseph C. Lewis interpreted from what appears to be "Joe Lewis" on the front although this may be incorrect. Key dates for Joseph C. Lewis are: Acting Third Asst. Engineer 1/15/62, Acting 2nd Asst. Engineer 4/14/64, Discharged 10/24/65. Afterwards Lewis apparently rejoined the navy as Acting 2nd Asst. Engineer 7/31/66, Resigned 11/6/67. The wreath cap insignia (1862 Regulations) and shoulder boards with a (partial) centered devise shown in the carte are, however, more consistent with medical department rank, specifically that of an Assistant Surgeon.

CDV, vignette identified in period ink along the right margin of verso as, "Lucius B. Tuttle." New Orleans: Washburn's Gallery, [1860s]. (Minor wear, dented corners.) Tuttle served late war as Acting Asst. Paymaster 8/31/64, Discharged 11/21/65. Tuttle's shipboard service, if any, is unknown.

CDV of a youth wearing a single breasted frock coat with three buttons spaced vertically on the cuff, holding plain naval style undress cap. N.p.: n.p., [1860s]. (Somewhat light, dented lower corners.) A modern ballpoint identification, unsourced, reads, "J. Willard / Sawyer." The name is not found in Navy List.
