Sixth plate ambrotype half portrait of a seated New York State Militia sergeant wearing a gray uniform with epaulettes, sergeant's stripes, and belt plate, and holding his red-pommed shako in one arm. N.p.: n.p., n.d. (Thick tarnish surrounding subject, with discoloration/soiling to mat and preserver; unsealed.) Housed in a pressed paper case (surface wear throughout including finish loss to edges and raised surfaces). Subject's buttons, epaulettes, belt plate, and shako insignia highlighted in gold.
