Chinese, late 18th-early 19th century. Oil on canvas, housed in a parcel gilt and ebonized frame. A seated portrait of a naval man, unsigned; 23 x 19 in. (sight).

Provenance:Property from the Descendants of Bertha Benkard Rose, Oyster Bay, NY and Tucson, AZ

Condition:

Relined and restretched on a new stretcher. Stable craquelure. Some in-painting mostly located along the edges. Some wear to surface along rabbet lines. Wear to frame including dents, paint and gilt loss.
