Chest of Memorabilia Concerning Lieutenant Colonel Charles Frederick Hamilton Napier (1872-1963)

10.5" x 16.5" x 5.5".  Wood with etched floral motifs.  Contains souvenirs and mementos of Napier's life including an associated diary, paybook, Victorian officer's commission, photograph, and a collection of handwritten orders.

Charles Napier, son of famed British Indian Army Officer Field Marshal Robert George Cornelis Napier, served in the Royal Army Pay Corps.  Quickly rising to the rank of Captain in the Rifle Brigade, he saw action during the 1897 Tochi Expedition.  He later served in the Boer Wars and through the First World War.
