Carte de visite of Mrs. Sidney Brown in vivandiere's outfit with drum, canteen, and 21st Regiment hat. Verso with pencil identification, although subject is incorrectly identified as "Sedley Brown." While the CDV lacks a studio imprint, the portrait was produced by J. Gurney & Son, New York. Sidney Brown was an operator/artist (colorist) working at Gurney's address in the 1850s, and they quite possibly maintained a working relationship into the Civil War years.
Light corner/edge wear to mount.
