Mirror, likely for shaving, approx. 4 x 6.5 in. Oval glass encased in maple wood pivoting cover, with drill hole at top for hanging. Inscription on front reads: "Lieut. Col. Wm. O. Drew /2nd Reg. D.C. Vols / Alexandria, Va / August 6th, 1864 [originally a "3"] / 150 Bridge St. / Federal House." Identical inscription on back cover except for omission of last two lines. Lieutenant Colonel Drew, whose facial hair certainly appears well-tended in photographs, enlisted on February 26, 1862 in Washington, D.C. and was commissioned into the "C" Company of the D.C. 2nd Infantry. He was later transferred to Field and Staff before being mustered out on February 7, 1865.
Glass cloudy, but still reflective and in tact. Pivoting hinge remains functional.
