Featured at center is 10th Cavalry guide, Lemuel H. Spillsbury (alternate spelling "Spilsbury"). Image is believed to have been captured on the International Bridge at El Paso, Texas. The Battle of Carrizal took place on 21 June, 1916 as part of General Pershing's unsuccessful expedition in pursuit of Pancho Villa. The 24 American prisoners captured were released 10 days after the battle.
