.577 caliber, 39" barrel secured by three clamping barrel bands, no S/N. Blued finish, brass furniture, walnut stock. Lock unmarked except for tiny */G near front edge, barrel with Belgian E/LG/* proof at breech and small Peron inspection at bolster. Retains original rear sight, front sight/bayonet lug, sling swivels and all three screw protectors on the barrel bands. Missing ramrod. A very nice, untouched example of a Belgian contract P1853 Enfield Rifle Musket, some of which saw Civil War use, primarily in the hands of Union soldiers.
Good. Untouched, heavily oxidized metal with some scattered light pitting and patches of light surface rust. Mechanically functional, poor bore is heavily oxidized and very dirty. Stock with scattered bumps and dings.
