Model 1904 squared front visor fibre helmet with Crowned Royal Arms of Bavaria supported by two crowned lions rampant regardant each with forked tail, above a decorative scroll bearing the motto “In Treue Fest” in Gothic lettering. The helmet plate with laurel leaves dates from 1886. From 1913, an enameled centerpiece for Bavarian Generals only was authorized. The plaque is in two pieces, with the small shield separate, and enamel colors of black, red, white and blue. All metal fittings for a Medical General Officer are gilded, not silvered, and the chinscales are flat, not convex. The state cockade for Bavaria is silver with a blue ring ( worn on the left) and the National Prussian kokarde is red, silver and black (worn on the right). Cruciform base for spike or plume holder is attached to the helmet with eightpointed stars, and has perlring design and six vent holes below six-fluted “trichter” plume holder with white over blue cock feathers plume. Officer’s white silk lining and white leather sweatband.
Mercury fire -gilding on helmet plate is of highest quality. Hard to find version of variant General’s pattern helmet. Excellent condition.
