20 bore. 30" twist steel barrels. SN: 733. Scottish side by side shotgun that has been "re-breeched" and converted to percussion from flintlock at some point. Browned metal finish to barrels, with blued metal finish to frame and buttplate. Walnut stock has checkering to straight grip. Markings include Alexx. Thompson/Edinburgh to both lockplates, as well as A.F. SOLBRIG to percussion bolsters on both sides, and TWIGG LONDON to both barrels. Engravings include basic floral scroll to both lockplates, with acanthus and neoclassical-style designs to tangs, forend escutcheon, and buttplate. Stock wrist has a brass brace to top that appears to be a period repair. Item also features bead front sight, double triggers, dolphin head hammers, a flat barrel rib, and wood ramrod. 14" length of pull, 1.5" drop to comb, 2.5" drop to heel. Improved cylinder chokes.
Condition:
Fair to good. Bores are somewhat dark with residue and oxidation. Barrel finish has scattered losses and less than half of original finish remains. Blued finish has mottled losses to sides of frame and to buttplate. Wrist of stock has a crack to entire circumference, which has been braced with a brass plate installed to top of wrist. Stock has scratching and mars scattered overall. Action is functional.
