Akio Takamori (1950, Japan/USA)

Male and Female Pair
Porcelain; Male: ht. 25 in.; Female: ht. 22 in.

Takamori first made his name with his innovative "envelope" vessel forms inspired by Ukiyo-e prints and the way that reclining couples created shallow vessel-like spaces. The lot offered here includes a rare male and female pair, a superb play between a graphic image outlined in black and a three-dimensional form.
