The Great Plantation Singers. N.p., n.d. 12 x 18 in. broadside (toned, small areas of losses, some spotting); affixed to old pine boards (consignor relates that the item was discovered in a barn and the wood retained). An advertising broadside showing the Nashville Students, first in working clothes and also in formal attire. 

Jubilee Songs and Plantation Melodies. (Words and Music,) Specially Arranged by Prof. J.J. Sawyer, and Sung by The Original Nashville Students, the Celebrated Concert Company. Chicago: H.B. Thearle, Redpath Lyceum Bureau, copyright 1884. 8vo (173 x 258 mm). Music and lyrics for 15 songs. (Toned pages, very occasional small tear at edge). Original publisher's chromolithographic wrappers (very light wear to lower corner). The group of 8 or 9 singers was formed in Chicago in about 1882 and toured widely until at least 1890.  

Songs Sung by the Famous Canadian Jubilee Singers the Royal Paragon Male Quartette and Imperial Orchestra. Hamilton, Ontario: Duncan Lith. Co., [ca 1898]. 12mo (120 x 158 mm). Half-title, music for 13 songs with just lyrics for 54 additional tunes. (Evenly toned pages, bumped upper corner.) Original publisher's illustrated wrappers, staple bound (repaired vertical tear, chip to rear wrapper). Souvenir booklet from the Canadian Jubilee Singers, a Black singing troupe that sang traditional spirituals and traveled extensively. Founded in 1878 by William and Sadie Carter in Hamilton, Ontario, they were inspired by the Fisk Jubilee Singers from Fisk University in Tennessee. The quartet is depicted in suits flanked by Canadian and United States flags.
