A Two Gallon West Virginia Stoneware Pitcher

A.P. Donaghho, Parkersburg, West Virginia, Last Quarter 19th Century

with tooled rim and shoulder, and applied strap handle, the spout and neck free-hand decorated with cobalt slashes and floral motifs, the body with profuse free-hand and stenciled ornamentation surrounding maker's name including a double zipper. 

Height 12 1/2 inches.


Wear and loss to spout, 1" interior rim chip on right side of lip. Base of handle with hairline crack resulting in small "v" shaped loss on proper right side. Star crack on left side of body. 1" chip to underside of base.

Pitcher has sagged in kiln in three places and is toned from "cooking." Still an attractive, large pitcher.
