A Queen Anne Pine and Carved Maple Flat-Top High Chest, Likely Connecticut, Circa 1770

the inside of the lower backboard incised Kensington.

Height 63 x width 38 3/4 x depth 19 1/4 inches.

Provenance:Property from the Collection of Jeffrey Zeno, Long Beach, California

In overall fine and stable condition.  Refinished surface.  The backboards appear to be original.  Old scuffs, marks and scratches consistent with age and use.  Appears to retain its original drop finials.  The proper back left foot was cracked and reglued at the ankle, but is stable and of no concern for support.  The hardware appears to be original, though the top drawer shows additional post-holes along the bottom edge, suggesting this board might be married OR a cabinet maker's mistake in placing the posts. The dovetail joints at the base of the top section, joining its bottom board, appear to have been previously cut, suggesting that the side panels of the top section are replaced.  The issue with the side panels, likely happened several years ago as there is a patched hole on the side that aligns with a drilled hole within its corresponding drawer.
