A Queen Anne Carved Walnut Pad-Foot Compass-Seat Side Chair, Boston, Massachusetts, Circa 1750

the chair is marked VI, and the slip seat is unmarked and may be associated from another chair.

Height 40 inches.

In overall fine and stable condition. Appears to retain a fairly even, dark surface throughout, with a little oxidation showing beneath the varnish.  Old scuffs, marks and scratches consistent with age and use. Refinished.  The slip seat, while period, is likely associated to this chair.  Only webbing on the slipseat, no cushion or upholstery. The proper back right leg was previously cracked and reglued at the junction with the side and rear seat rails, no cause for stability concerns.
