Initially believed to be by the hand of Matthew Jouett, the attribution has since been disputed. The portrait of the Ms. Parsons is stylistically reminiscent of the work of Thomas Jefferson Wright; that of Mr. Parsons recalls the work of Joseph Henry Bush.
