A Fine Pennsylvania Five Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Flowers

John Weaver, Beaver, Pennsylvania, Mid 19th Century

with strongly flattened rim, tooled neck and shoulder, and two applied lug handles, with impressed chop J. Weaver in an arch over capacity mark, the body decorated with a freehand row of five cobalt flowers and leaves. 

Height 14 1/4 inches.

Use wear to rim, a clay pop in one of the flower, darkened area on back of jar. A chip to lower left of decoration and 2" chip to rim.
