A Diminutive One Quart Pennsylvania Stoneware Canning Jar with Cobalt Stars

Western Pennsylvania, Second Half 19th Century

an exceptional one quart jar decorated with a band of three bright cobalt stars accented by four cobalt stripes.  

Height 6 3/4 inches.

Condition:

Hairline across bottom and extending up most of the back. Several chips to underside of foot. Two small chips inside rim. Rear with brown "cooking" from proximity to another jar in kiln.

Glaze is especially bright. A handful of dimples and glaze pocks.
