A Cobalt Double Eagle-Decorated Ten Gallon Stoneware Crock

W.D. Cooper & Bro., Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Late 19th Century

with tooled collar and mid body, and applied lug handles, cobalt-stenciled From W.D. Cooper & Br. No. 7 Diamond Pittsburgh, bracketed above and below by elaborate spread-winged eagle stencil with banner of Eagle Pottery, and a free-hand 10 capacity mark below, with cobalt below each handle lug.

Height 19 1/2 inches.

 

Condition:

1 1/2 inch chip/loss from front edge of proper right lug. Chips to the other lug. One 1" chip to rear base. Chips to band below rim. Kiln pock to cobalt band above decoration, and another one towards base. Some cobalt fritting.
