Late 19th century.
Likey carved as a bust. With a large hole in the Top of the figure’s head from where the wood block was mounted to a lathe.
Height 23 1/2 inches.
There are many cracks to the carving and some losses, including from the top of the left shoulder down the left arm, as well as on the feathers. The paint also has many losses throughout. Several holes in the carving (including on the band beneath the feathers, on the feathers, and on the top of the head) were putty-filled. While a UV light inspection was not conclusive, possible repainting in some areas cannot be excluded, as the underside shows traces of newer red paint.
