Tall cylinder jar with pottery mark, ca 1927 (no artist signature); ht. 7 in.

All three vessels come from the early years of Winchcombe Pottery in Gloucestershire. All are slip decorated by Michael Cardew but only the smaller jar is thrown by him. The other two were most likely made by the elderly potter Elijah Comfort.

Provenance: From the Dorothy Miner Collection.

Condition:Cylindrical vase has a chip to bottom rim; crazing to oval dish.
