Brass badge, 1.75 x 2.25 in., of the Philadelphia Fire Zouaves, officially the 72nd Pennsylvania Infantry, with applied "E" between stamps for P.F.Z. (Philadephia Fire Zouaves) at top at P.S.M. (Pennsylvania State Militia) at bottom. Raised in August 1861 and commanded by Colonel DeWitt Clinton Baxter, the regiment of firemen served for three years and was part of the Philadelphia Brigade.
