3rd Model Winchester 1876 Rifle

.45-75, 28" octagonal barrel, S/N 27970 (mfg. ca1882). Blued finish, smooth straight grip walnut stock with crescent buttplate and smooth forend. Standard Winchester barrel markings with KING'S IMPROVEMENT patent dates dates, 1876 marked leaf rear sight, no caliber marking on barrel or lifter which is usually indicative of .45-75 chambering as that was the only caliber the 1876 was originally available in. Butt trap is void of cleaning rods.

Good. Retains some thin streaky traces of blue mixed with a moderately oxidized brownish-gray patina. Receiver with some lightly oxidized pitting around ejection port, forward edge and left. Mechanically functional, good bore with strong rifling is moderately oxidized with scattered pitting. Stock lightly sanded with scattered bumps and dings and minor gapping around the upper tang.
