An exceptional Federal bowfront chest of drawers in mahogany and flame birch with pine secondary, the conforming top with crossbanding and string inlay, over four graduated, dovetailed drawers with brass escutcheons and pulls, each stamped HJ for the London makers Thomas Hanks and William Jenkins, all rising on flaring French feet; ht. 38, wd. 41.5, dp. 22.5 in.
