3 DAGUERREOTYPES BY LUTHER HOLMAN HALE inc. HALF PLATE

These daguerreotypes are not necessarily related, other than they are all signed "HALE."

1) Half plate, "HALE" stamped on brass mat. Thin young man with mutton chops wearing a high collar and striped tie. Strong image. Attractive full case.

2) Sixth plate, "HALE, ARTIST No. 109 WASH'N ST." stamped on brass mat. Handsome man with distinctive mustache facing to our right. Bright. Attractive black push button case.

3) Ninth plate, "HALE" stamped on brass mat. Bearded young man looking at us. Convex glass. Attractive black push button case.

According to A Directory of Massachusetts Photographers 1839-1900, by Chris Steele and Ron Polito, Luther Holman Hale was active at 109 Washington Street in Boston, Ma. from 1845 - 1861.
