1st Model Winchester Model 1873 Round Barrel Rifle

.44-40, 24" round barrel, 7142 (mfg. ca1875). Blued finish, smooth walnut straight-grip stock with crescent buttplate and smooth forend. Standard barrel and tang markings. Thumbprint dust cover, elevation adjustable buckhorn sight, dovetailed German silver blade front sight. Butt trap is void of cleaning rods. Round barrels are significantly less common than octagonal barrels on 1873 rifles.

Good. Metal with a mostly smooth, slightly mottled plum brown patina with clear markings. Mechanically functional, fair bore with moderate pitting throughout. Stock with wear, showing scattered bumps, dings and mars.
