12 Bore. 31" barrel length. SN: NSN. Double-barrel sidelock percussion shotgun with Damascus barrels and engraved lockplates. Item shows a browned metal finish to barrels with a bright finish elsewhere. Furniture consists of 1 piece wooden stock with smooth forend and finely checkered wrist. Floral engraved tang followed by silver escutcheon that is unsigned. Barrels show a continuous sunburst design surrounded by flora to tang with a silver band to each breech. Lockplates show floral scrollwork surrounding a sunburst over the lock screw while hammers are done display a fish pattern. Undersides of barrels show Birmingham proof marks but no bore marking. Both lockplates signed Sharpe with the barrel rib marked LONDON. 1.25" drop to comb. 2" drop to heel. 13.75" length of pull.
Condition:
Good. Bores are dark to frosty with patches of patina throughout and some oxidation near muzzle. Overall metal finish is a brown patina with some spots of old oxidation to barrels and on locks near percussion nipples. Oxidation to hammers and nipples. Further oxidation visible to underside of breeches, beneath forend, and within stock at breech. Jagged edges to hammers indicating some material has sheared off. Underside of forend shows crack at breech near right lock plate. Chips and dings to upper edge of forend where meets barrels. Ramrod is discolored along its length with light discolorations beneath loops. Left hammer safety does not function and releases at half cock while right is locked fast. Otherwise hammers may be cocked and released.
