18th Century European Fowler

.60 caliber. 38" barrel length. SN: NSN. Percussion European-style fowler with swan neck cock lever and fixed blade front sight. Item has a browned metal finish with brass sideplate, buttplate, and inlay to top of wrist. Walnut stock is full length with a straight grip cow-hoof style buttstock. Features floral and scroll engravings to brass accoutrements. Barrel is octagonal to round tapered, with "F", "*/RF", and shielded "P" and "V" marks to top of barrel. Lock has a top screw design, and there are handmade nails fixing stock to barrel. Item appears to be a flintlock to percussion conversion, based on the crude lock configuration. This item does not have any noticeable maker's marks. Action is functional. Includes brass tip ramrod.

Poor to fair. Bore is dark and has heavy oxidation overall. Finish has developed a dark patina overall and there is heavy oxidation/corrosion to lock area. Pitting overall. Discoloration to brass accoutrements. Stock has various hairline cracks overall, mostly to butt. Wood to metal fit around right side lockplate is not good. Possible replaced screw to left sideplate. Stock and barrel are disconnected near muzzle. Front thimble has heavy oxidation. Oxidation to cock lever.
