18K Lady's Pocket Watch Descended Directly in the Lincoln Family

Victorian Swiss-made 18K gold pocket watch, late 19th century. The Baillod, Geneve, pendant watch, with watch fob chain, features engraved design with rose cut diamonds and black enameling on the front and back case. The key wind movement stamped, Patent Lever 22 Jewels/ Baillod Geneve. The inside back case stamped, 18K 46719. The 18K watch fob cable link chain, measuring 48 in. in length, is secured by a gold swivel catch; weight of chain, 10 dwt. Weight of watch, 29 dwt.

Given its provenance and age, this watch could have been worn by Mary Todd Lincoln or more likely,her daughter-in-law, Mary Harlan Lincoln, wife of Robert Todd Lincoln.
