1851-date U.S. Model 1842 Pistol by Henry Aston

.54 caliber. 8.25" barrel length. SN: NSN. Percussion pistol with hinged ramrod and brass furniture. Bright finish, lock possibly case hardened. Wood stock has a plain pistol grip and does not appear to have any military cartouche marks. Sides of stock show rough horizontal and vertical lines, indicating it may have been sanded at some point. Markings include a lockplate that is marked "U.S./H.ASTON & CO." and "MIDDtn/CONN./1851". Barrel is marked "WN" above an obscured mark. 

Condition:

Fair. Bore is dark. Bright finish has mostly turned to a dull grey patina with some surface oxidation. There is scratching and pitting to all metal parts. Stock has minor scratches and mars overall. Action is functional.
