17th Century Continental Small Sword/Transitional Rapier - Possibly Dutch

26.25" blade length. 31.5" overall with hilt. Double-edged sword with clamshell guard and knuckle bow. Hilt features braided wire wrap to handle with floral embellishments to metalwork and quillon terminating in a rosebud. Clamshell guard is perforated and features two finger rings. Pommel secured with a peened tang. Blade has four symbols per side set between interrupted fullers. Rounded medial ridge to blade extending from hilt to tip.


Good. Blade has three bites to edge and shows a mottled gray patina overall with patches of oxidation at rear end near hilt. Hilt components are a brown patina with some details having been rubbed off of pommel.
