7 by 4 1/4 inches in an early full calf binding with gilt tooling. Beautifully written in a contemporary hand on 248 leaves. The contents include: James I, Speech of Feb. 5, 1625; A Brief Declaration of the Treasurer's Accompt.; The Archbishop's Speech, March 7, 1625; The Speaker's Address to the King in the Banquetting House at Whitehall, March 5, 1625; The Earl Conway's Letter to the Earl of Bristoll, March 23, 1625, and Answer; Charles I: Impeachment of Buckingham, 1626; The Duke of Buckingham's Extortion of 1,000 Pounds From the East India Company, by John Glanvill; Etc.
The early speeches are those of James I; the latter of Charles I who acceded to the throne in February, 1626.
Condition:
Binding worn but sound and tight; retains two working clasps although volume is slightly "sprung." Front pastedown bears the bookplate of the Downing Library. Contents clean and elegantly written by hand in ink.
