How to Absentee Bid with Cowan’s

The bidder specifies their maximum bid in advance of the auction and the auctioneer will bid on behalf of the absentee bidder against any competition, starting at the lowest possible selling price, and continuing in the defined increments, up to the bidder’s maximum specified bid.

Absentee bids are recorded with the time and date of arrival. In the case of a tie, the earliest absentee bidder wins.

How It Works

First, make sure you are logged into your My Cowan’s Account. If you are unsure how to do that, instructions can be found HERE.

Step 1: Select “View Lots” for the auction you wish to bid in.

Step 2: Find the lot you’d like to bid on, type in your maximum bid in the field and click “Bid.”

Step 3: Your bid has been submitted! Your absentee bid will be displayed under the lot now through the auction. If you want to amend your bid at any point leading up to the auction, you can type in the new amount and click “Update Bid.”
